This treadle will be for making doll clothes, small projects, and minor clothing repairs, aprons, and eventually vintage and antique style clothing.. My larger, and older, Singer Sewing machine is for bigger projects, or anything that requires a large workspace, because it has a large cabinet. It is nicer to have some choices. I have a new Singer which is smaller, and it runs very quietly and smoothly, and I'm very happy with it. I also use it for projects such as sewing sheers for windows and pillows. This New Home treadle sewing machine has the number 1,290,101, which means it was built in 1893. This is well within the Victorian era. The patent date for it is 1887. They cost either $55 or $60 when new. I plan on making some Victorian items with this one. This will keep the reproduction authentic. The stitching from this machine is beautiful. This beautiful machine was given to me by my grandmother around 1979. I was thrilled to receive it, since I had learned to use it at the tender age of 10, and had always went to it when visiting her house.
